Blood Pressure Challenge

Can we help you reduce your blood pressure in two weeks??

 

 

HELPFUL DIETARY CHANGES

  • Cut salt out of your diet – don’t add it at the table or to your cooking.  Salt is known to increase blood pressure.  Also be aware of salty foods like bacon, ham, cheese and tuna in brine.  Use pepper, herbs and spices to add flavour to your meals instead.  Foods like garlic, ginger and turmeric are particularly good.
  • Eat oily fish – if you like it.  Oily fish are rich in Omega 3, which has been shown to be helpful in maintaining a healthy blood pressure.  Try and eat three portions of oily fish – salmon, mackerel, sardines, trout, tuna in oil.  If you do not like oily fish, you may want to try a fish oil supplement.
  • Try and limit tea and coffee intake to 3 a day – in total.  Tea and Coffee can increase the body’s production of stress hormones which could in turn increase your blood pressure readings.
  • Increase your intake of water – try and drink 2-3 pints of plain water or hot water and lemon, every day.  We have found that this can help to reduce fluid retention, which in turn can help to reduce blood pressure.
  • Try drinking a glass of Beetroot juice everyday.  Many people have reported a reduction in their blood pressure after starting to drink beetroot juice everyday.  If you do not fancy drinking beetroot juice every day then you could try Beetroot Capsules instead.

IMPORTANT LIFESTYLE FACTORS

  • Stress is thought to increase blood pressure readings, so try and be as calm as possible when getting your blood pressure checked.
  • If you are an anxious person or you have a lot of stress in your life investigate relaxation techniques.
  • It may also be worth looking for herbal remedies which would calm and relax you.  For example herbs like Valerian can be very relaxing and are often used in Natural Sleep Remedies.
